NB-IoT

Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) is a Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) radio technology standard developed by 3GPP.

In comparison to LTE-M and LTE Cat 1, NB-IoT supports:

  • lower power consumption

  • extended range

In comparison to other LPWAN technologies: Weightless and LoRaWAN

  • Significantly more power consuming; optimal battery life is achieved with Weightless/LoRaWAN

When we use it

  • applications with fairly infrequent 2‑way data

  • backhaul for LPWAN Base Stations 

  • indoor mobile applications - tracking / handover
